Ayman Nahle

Ayman Nahle is a visual artist, film archivist, filmmaker, and cinematographer based in Beirut, Lebanon. He studied cinema and theater at the Institute of Fine Arts, Lebanese University. Since 2007, he has worked on a multitude of experimental and documentary short films as a director of photography and film editor. Since 2014, Nahle has collaborated with the "The Institute of the Cosmos" project of E-Flux New York as a cinematographer for Anton Vidokle Films, including "The Communist Revolution caused by the sun," "Immortality and Resurrection for All," "AUTOTROFIA," Gilgamesh, and other films. Notably, he co-produced and directed many short films such as "Now: End of Season," "The Exceptional Moon," "Disquiet," and "Ceremony until Death." Nahle has presented his works and participated in a global array of art spaces and events, including the Berlin International Film Festival, New York Film Festival, Oberhausen Film Festival, Kochi-Muziris Biennale, FIDMARSEILLE, Locarno Film Festival. He has received artistic grants from sources such as the Arab Fund for Culture and Arts, Ashkal Alwan, the Goethe-Institute, Bidayyat, and others. Nahle has also participated in artistic residencies in cities including Beirut, Berlin, Zurich, and Faenza in Italy. Since 2020, he has been working on archival practices for various workshops and research projects as an audio-visual archivist for Umam Documentation & Research (UMAM D&R) collections. His dedication to preserving and documenting audio-visual materials has been instrumental in enriching the historical and cultural heritage of these collections.
