Eine virtuelle Ruinenlandschaft
Performative Installation in Virtual Reality von DARUM

Wie fühlen sich verlassene virtuelle Orte an? Wieviel Leben steckt im digitalen Abbild von Verstorbenen? Wer bin »ich« in Anwesenheit der Abwesenden? Und was hat im künftigen Metaverse der großen Konzerne keinen Platz? Anknüpfend an die Themen ihrer 2021 im Auftrag des Impulse Theater Festivals entstandenen Hyperlink-Installation 404-TOTLINK wagt DARUM in [EOL]. End of Life unter Verwendung des jungen Mediums der Virtual Reality den Blick in eine mögliche, nicht allzu ferne Zukunft. Als outsourced freelancer des fiktiven Billionen- Dollar-Konzerns IRL (Imaginary Reality Landscapes) übernimmt das Publikum die Rolle derjenigen, die künftig darüber bestimmen, welche Inhalte in den blühenden virtuellen Parallelwelten von morgen Platz haben — und welche unwiederbringlich gelöscht werden sollen. Dabei konfrontiert [EOL]. End of Life die virtuellen Reisenden mit einer Vielzahl an begehbaren, dreidimensionalen Welten und einer nicht geringeren Anzahl an menschlichen Spuren. Denn in der von den Online-Servern getrennten Version 1.0 dieses bereits in sich zerfallenden, verlassenen „Metaversums“ wartet das digitale Echo vergangener Existenzen — und mit ihm die Frage danach, wie wir einmal erinnert werden (wollen).
