Inspiriert von dem portugiesischen Wort „Outrar“ (dt.: jemand anders werden) versammelt dieser Doppelabend zwei choreografische Antworten auf Fragen nach Identität, Fremdheit und Verwandlung. Das Projekt entstand auf Initiative der brasilianischen Choreografin Lia Rodrigues, die mehrere in Europa lebende brasilianische Künstler*innen einlud, ausgehend von einem gemeinsamen Soundtrack, einer Sammlung von Bewegungsaufgaben und einem Austausch über Distanz jeweils eine eigene Version von Outrar zu entwickeln.

Calixto Neto richtet in seiner Fassung den Blick auf Körper, die als fremd, abweichend oder unsichtbar wahrgenommen werden, und erkundet das Potenzial, das in dieser gesellschaftlichen Zuschreibung und ihrer Hinterfragung liegt. Volmir Cordeiro hingegen versteht Verwandlung als einen Prozess der Metamorphose. Aus Gesten, Figuren und wechselnden Identitäten entsteht ein Spiel zwischen Freude, Nostalgie und der Sehnsucht nach einem anderen Ort. Beide Arbeiten entwickeln aus demselben Ausgangspunkt einen eigenen choreografischen Zugriff. Gemeinsam eröffnen sie einen Abend, der Verwandlung nicht als Ausnahme, sondern als grundlegende menschliche Erfahrung begreift.

Inspired by the Portuguese word “outrar” (in English: to become someone else) this double bill brings together two choreographic responses to questions about identity, foreignness and transformation. The project was initiated by the Brazilian choreographer Lia Rodrigues, who invited several Brazilian artists living in Europe each to develop their own version of Outrar, using a shared soundtrack, a collection of movement tasks and remote mentoring.

In his version Calixto Neto focusses on bodies that are perceived as alien, divergent or invisible, and explores the potential that lies in this form of social categorisation and in challenging it. By contrast, Volmir Cordeiro views transformation as a process of metamorphosis. Gestures, characters and changing identities produce a game of joy, nostalgia and yearning for another place. Both works develop an individual choreographic approach from the same starting point. Together they produce an evening that sees transformation not as an exception but as a fundamental human experience.
