Davit Khorbaladze

Davit Khorbaladze (b. 1993, Tbilisi) is a multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of theatre, music, text, and new media. A graduate of the Shota Rustaveli State Theatre and Film University, he co-founded OpenSpace | Visual and Performance Arts Centre in 2016, where he serves as Curator of Theatre.

His work explores memory, identity, and sexuality within sociopolitical instability, often intertwining politics, the human body, and mass culture. Music and sound play a central dramaturgical role in his theatre practice, shaping both narrative, and experience.

As a playwright and director, Khorbaladze challenges traditional forms through multimedia, and experimental storytelling. As a composer, he has worked across theatre, dance, film, and television, making sound a primary expressive force.

His works have been presented in Georgia’s independent and state theatres—including Open Space, Royal District Theatre, Kunsthalle Tbilisi, Marjanishvili Theatre,Vaso Abashidze State New Theatre, and Tbilisi State Ballet—and internationally, including at the 59th Venice Biennale, where he was the composer and sound designer for Georgia’s official submission, I Pity the Garden.

He is also a curator of the South Caucasus Documentary Theatre Network and the Student Platform at Open Space.
